CASS Certified Address Correction
You’ve designed your piece to be mailed out in a manner to save you money. The next area for cost savings is in your postage cost. Holley’s Printing uses CASS (Coding Accuracy Support System) certified software approved by the USPS to make sure the address records of your mailing list are within the standards set by the U.S. Postal Service. We repair recognizable addresses that are incorrect and standardize them to meet these USPS specifications. Next, we append proper ZIP +4 and carrier route codes, plus all other required USPS endorsements. Last, but not least, we presort your list -- arranging all the addresses in a sequence that meets USPS regulations. Prior to mailing, we produce the documentation needed to obtain your postal discounts and ensure deliverability.
NCOALink
The NCOALink (National Change of Address) is a consolidated file of move information that on average contains approximately 160 million permanent changes-of-address (COAs) filed with the United States Postal Service (USPS). These COAs are retained on the file for a four-year period from the most-effective date and the file is updated weekly.
Basically, your mail list is processed through the NCOALink and it will determine if there is a validated delivery point; if the address is forwardable with a new address provided; moved with an unconfirmed new address; moved with no address; a closed PO Box or a Foreign move. Any address that shows as having been moved over 18 months will be considered as undeliverable and will not be mailed. However, we can export the undeliverable list if you opt to manually update them yourself and have us merge them with your validated list and reprocess.
NCOALink processing has the potential to reduce returned mail, yet the USPS does not make any guarantees, express or implied, on the reduction of such mail. Thus any cost associated with returned mail are the Licensees' and/or their customers' sole responsibility.
Merge/Purge
Do you have multiple lists to be used on a single project? No problem! We can merge two or more lists and purge the names and addresses that appear multiple times. Purging gives you a clean list, which enables you to save money by not mailing to duplicate records.
Keep in mind, not all merge/purge software and processing is done like we do at Holley’s Printing! Many programs delete only identical matches -- for example, “955 West College Street” and “955 West College Street.” They could skip over “955 W. College Street” and “955 College Street” as a match. Yet other programs might think "37 Fulton Avenue" and "37 Fullerton Avenue" are a match when, in fact, they are two different locations.
Holley’s Printing’s merge/purge software standardizes and corrects all possible addresses in your lists, then creates a special merge/purge sequence to eliminate the true duplicates and keep the good addresses.
It’s possible for us to identify sound-alike names (“Kathy” and “Cathy,” for example) at the same address and eliminate the duplicate.
Once your list is merged/purged, we can supply a report documenting where duplicates appeared and what we eliminated.
